| a. Is Maybe Baby suitable for everyone? No. Although Maybe Baby works for most people it will not work for everyone. Anything that affects oestrogen levels in the body may affect the results. This may include your age, medications, infections, breastfeeding and pregnancy. High oestrogen levels will produce an ongoing ‘ferning’ pattern while low oestrogen levels will not be picked up by the microscope. Oestrogen levels can be tested by your doctor through a simple blood test.
| b. Will breast-feeding affect my results? Yes, if you are breast-feeding your results could be inaccurate. This is due to hormonal changes in your body.
| c. Can Clomid affect the Maybe Baby results? Yes, Clomid can affect the results of Maybe Baby as Clomid affects your oestrogen levels. For some women it does not affect the results but for others it does and this means that your sample results may be unreliable.
d. Does Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome affect the result on my Maybe Baby? Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) can affect oestrogen levels. Anything that affects oestrogen may affect the reliability of the Maybe Baby reading as Maybe Baby works by measuring oestrogen levels in the saliva. This means that your sample results may be unreliable. It may be best to speak to your specialist regarding this.
| e. I am taking the mini pill (progesterone only), for contraception. Can I use Maybe Baby to predict my ovulation when I'm on the mini pill? Since the mini pill affects your hormone levels it may affect the reading you receive on the Maybe Baby and therefore may not give you reliable readings. Please note that Maybe Baby is not a contraceptive so you would not be able to replace your mini pill with the Maybe Baby if you are looking for a contraceptive. Also once you come off the pill it may take some time for your cycles to regulate once again and they may not be the same length as you experienced on the pill.
| f. Can Maybe Baby be used as a contraceptive? NO. Although Maybe Baby may also identify less fertile periods, it is NOT intended for contraception.
