a. The light is not working or I need to change the batteries.

If the light suddenly stops working or only works at times please follow the instructions to adjust the batteries.

Adjusting the batteries:

1. Unlock the base by turning the light housing (grey end of Maybe Baby diagram, part 4) anti-clockwise.

2. Gently remove housing.

3. Remove the coloured plastic protective covering enclosing the batteries (the coloured plastic can be thrown away as it does not need to be re-inserted).

4. Remove the batteries.

5. Wipe gently with a cloth/tissue.

6. Insert the batteries positive (flat) side towards the light bulb.

7. Check the light by pressing down the light switch.

8. If the light is working, replace the base and lock it into position by turning clockwise.

9. If the light is not working check that the batteries are both placed with the flat side facing the light bulb.

If adjusting the batteries is not enough, you may need to change them.  In the case of replacement, the batteries you will need are 2 x SR44 or AG13 batteries (available from your local pharmacy or a watch repairs shop).  If you are still within your 12 month warranty please contact us directly.

b. I can't get the lens completely clean

The lens may never look totally blank- you may see small dust particles. These will not affect the picture once your saliva sample is on the lens.  (see also the Maybe Baby Parts page for lens care).

c. Should the lens unscrew completely?

No, the lens should not unscrew - it should only move from side to side to allow you to focus the viewfinder. You should apply the saliva to the flat internal part of the viewfinder. If you have turned the viewfinder until it unscrews please contact us by phone or email.

d. My Maybe Baby packaging rattles slightly when I shake it.  Is it broken?

You may notice that your new packaging rattles slightly when you shake it and when you open it, it has a little crystal bead in it.  This crystal is a silica bead and is placed in the packaging during manufacture to absorb humidity.  It does not affect how your Maybe Baby works at all.

e. There is a crystal in my Maybe Baby packaging - what is it?

A piece of silica gel - a dessicant. You may notice that your new packaging rattles slightly when you shake it and when you open it, it has a little crystal bead in it. This crystal is a silica bead and is placed in the packaging during manufacture to absorb humidity. It does not affect how your Maybe Baby  works at all.
